About
Thordis Claessen is from Iceland. She´s been drawing all her life, and as a young skateboarding girl she decided to study graphic design. After 4 years of studies at the Icelandic Academy of Arts, she graduated as a graphic designer with a BA degree. Thordis has worked advertising agencies, such as: The White House, 1001 Nights, as well as a freelance designer. Currently one of her biggest clients is Landsbankinn (bank corporation in Iceland) where she designs the visual profile for a campaign for their young clients. (www.klassi.is)In 2004 she formed a T- shirt boutique with her friend Gulli, where she designs graphics on T- shirts. The shop is called "Ósóma", located downtown in Reykjavik Iceland. (www.osoma.is) Recently Thordis published a book on Icelandic Graffiti and Street Art. The book is called " ICEPICK" and is published with www.gingkopress.com. In Manchester UK, she put up an ICEPICK show in URBIS showroom gallery. ICEPICK was also a part of an icelandic design exhibition in Reykjavik, called MAGMA. One of her latest work is designing the Gingkopress booth at Bread & Butter trade show in Barcelona, summer 07.
Recent exhibitions are the "ICEPICK show" at a Reykjavik Bistro- Bar, called B5, which took place during the “Iceland Airwaves” Music festival in October 2007. Her latest Canvas exhibiton - a bigger one, was held at B5 as well. Those canvases can be viewed at this webpage gallery called "Mixed Work"
